The Hayling Ferry Trust was set up in June 2016, with the aim of assisting a new operator restore the Ferry service between Hayling Island and Portsmouth. The new service operated by Baker Trayte Marine Ltd commenced on 5th August 2016.

The Trust assists the Ferry operation by offering promotional and marketing support. Where possible it also co-ordinates limited funding assistance to support  a community friendly timetable. Any funding assistance for the Ferry operator will include input from the various stakeholders  (Local Government, Business sponsors, and the Community). The Trust also acts as a lobbying body in support of bus or other transport links to the Ferry on both sides of Langstone Harbour.
